To do port-forwarding, you issue commands to the packet-filtering (firewall) app built into Mac OS X (and BSD). First, you need to provide a way to connect a terminal to your Ubuntu VM. In the Terminal window, type in csrutil disable and press Enter. Once it finishes loading and brings you to Recovery Mode, click Utilities -> Terminal. So if you want to use port 80 with Tomcat you will need to learn how to do "port-forwarding" to forward incoming requests to port 8080 where Tomcat listens by default. When the startup screen shows up, press and hold the Command + R until the Apple logo appears on your screen. Unix systems protect access to ports numbered under 1024. You can also use the Keyboard Viewer to see your current keyboard layout, known as an input source. I use the BatChmod app which wraps a GUI around the equivelant Unix commands to reset file permissions. Note: Keyboard shortcuts in apps may vary depending on the language and keyboard layout you’re using on your Mac.If the shortcuts below don’t work as you expect, look in the app menus in the menu bar to see the correct shortcuts. I find that a fresh Tomcat download will not run on my Mac because of file permission restrictions throwing errors during startup. If you cannot see zsh here, then you might have some configuration issues with zsh. See the list of available shells and select one. I delete them as it makes it easier to read that folder's listing. In the menu bar, click 'Go' and select 'Applications.' Your Applications folder will open. Search For Terminal: Select Default Shell and select it. The mv command moves the file or folder from its old location and puts it in the new location. ![]() However, by default, there is no SSH server installed. In the Terminal app on your Mac, use the mv command to move files or folders from one location to another on the same computer. bat files as they are only for a Windows PC, of no use on a Mac to other Unix computer. First, you need to provide a way to connect a terminal to your Ubuntu VM. To shutdown Tomcat, do the same with shutdown.sh. Easiest way for a lazy Mac user like me: Drag-and-drop the startup.sh file from the Finder to the Terminal window and press Return. ![]()
